Grasshopper Drawings

“I looked into the sky and saw you, all at once, silver in the sunlight, I wondered how you could get so high, I jump to meet you, but it is impossible.  I wait for you to come closer.  You are my love, my airplane.”

There is a moment before understanding, when we see something and it fills us with wonder and excitement, a moment before everything is defined and cataloged.

The grasshoppers are a relationship of scale, where distance actually brings two objects closer, making the airplane a mechanical insect, mysterious and brilliant.  The drawings are inspired by irrational  and uncontrollable joy, where the subject loves most dearly that which it cannot understand.
